Mr Mandela's granddaughters help launch Long Walk to Freedom container library
On 18 July, Mr Mandela’s granddaughter’s Zaziwe and Swati joined the Mandela Bangle Program, to quietly honour their late grandfather’s legacy. While most of the country openly celebrated Mandela Day, Zaziwe and Swati spent their 67 minutes behind the scenes, in a container yard, prepping for the launch of the fourth Long Walk to Freedom container library.

Freedom ride partners
Joburg and its partners stage a Freedom Ride cycle event
The City of Johannesburg, in partnership with the Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport, the Nelson Mandela Foundation, Joburg Urban Cyclists Association, Cycology, Bicycling Empowerment Network and Linkd Environmental Services, will stage its second 35km Freedom Ride social cycle event on 20 July 2014.
Nelson Mandela Foundation pays tribute to everyone who supported Mandela Day 2014
After the first Mandela Day in 2009, Mr Mandela thanked all who had supported it. He said: “It is our hope that people will dedicate their time and effort to improve the conditions within their own communities. We thank you for participating in Mandela Day.”
