Old Mutual plants seeds of change for Mandela Day 2025

Longstanding partner Old Mutual is honouring Mandela Day 2025 through its Planting a Legacy initiative, a nationwide effort to grow food, restore dignity, and protect the planet.

In partnership with the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, Green Development Foundation, Universal Greening Organisation, and other local partners, Old Mutual will plant fruit trees and create food gardens at 27 schools across all nine provinces.

Their employee volunteerism campaign will also see staff rolling up their sleeves to clean school grounds, clear waste, and prepare planting spaces. This meaningful work brings to life this year’s Mandela Day theme: "It is still in your hands to combat poverty and inequity."

These green spaces will nourish bodies, grow pride, and build environmental awareness in communities across the country.
