Ever wondered how the smaller items in a school get fixed? We at the Mandela Day Libraries project know that it is often left up to the school governing body, primarily made up of local parents, to make a plan.

Realising this, power tool manufacturer and distributor Skillcraft Agencies donated four tool sets, made up of items specifically put together to assist a school maintenance officer, to our project for Mandela Day 2023.

The Mandela Day Libraries project aims to improve literacy across South Africa by converting shipping containers into libraries and benefits more than 80 000 children daily. It has been running since 2011.

The project gifted the first INGCO tool set to Limpopo’s Tlakana Primary School on Mandela Day, 18 July 2023. Three more schools will follow.

Tlakana Primary School’s staff gathered to accept the donation, and it is clear to see that they are passionate about giving back to their school in a way that makes a difference, says Robert Coutts, CEO and founder of Mandela Bangle, which provides funding for the Mandela Day Libraries project.

The donation comes with a lifetime warranty and a free repair service.
