For nearly three decades, Ashraful Aid has worked alongside communities across South Africa, responding to hunger and hardship with compassion and practical support. Every Mandela Day, the organisation transforms that commitment into a powerful act of collective service, bringing together hundreds of volunteers with one shared goal: ensuring vulnerable families have food on their tables.

Last year, more than 1,500 volunteers packed 5,000 food hampers, reaching over 20,000 people across the country. It was a reminder that when people come together with a shared purpose, small acts of service can create an extraordinary impact.

This year, Ashraful Aid hopes to do it again.

On 16 July, volunteers from all walks of life will gather at DP World Wanderers Stadium to pack another 5,000 food hampers for vulnerable households, including families headed by women, children and older persons. Whether you're volunteering on your own, with your family, your colleagues or your organisation, you'll be joining thousands of people choosing to spend their Mandela Day making a tangible difference.

Beyond packing hampers, there are many ways to support the initiative. Businesses can sponsor food parcels, organisations can donate non-perishable food and hygiene items, and volunteers can help create a day rooted in compassion, dignity and community.
