On Saturday, 19 July 2025, close to 10 000 people gathered at the DP World Wanderers Stadium for the annual Mandela Day Walk & Run, a celebration of Madiba’s legacy of unity, community and action.

The event saw 21km and 10km runners take off at sunrise, followed by the 5 km family walk, which brought together families, friends, and communities. Parents walked hand-in-hand with their children, friends encouraged one another across the finish line, and first-time walkers proudly wore their medals, all united by a shared purpose.

The atmosphere was one of hope, joy, and action as participants honoured this year’s Mandela Day theme: “It is still in your hands to combat poverty and inequity.”

This incredible day would not have been possible without the support of our sponsors and partners: BP South Africa, Balwin Properties, DP World Wanderers Stadium, DP Lions Cricket, Mahindra South Africa, SABC Sport, Discovery Vitality, Brand South Africa, Road Accident Fund, Telkom South Africa, Number 1 Mageu, and the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture.
