International Nelson Mandela Day concerts kick off in Iceland
Mandela Day celebrations are set to kick off in Iceland this weekend when Bryan Ferry, the lead singer of Roxy Music who launched a solo career in the early ‘70s, performs at the all-new concert hall in Reykjavík, Harpa.
Ferry’s first public concert this year since he finished his Olympia tour in London in December 2011, the weekend’s performance marks the start of International Mandela Day 2012 celebrations in Reykjavík.
Scheduled to take place on Sunday 27 May and Monday 28 May, Ferry’s concerts signify the start of commemorative Nelson Mandela days in Iceland that are held in honour of Mr Mandela and his ideals.
The concerts are held in cooperation with The Reykjavík Arts Festival and are part of the festival programme.
