Nelson Mandela International Day 2012 kicked off with a bang as a number of South Africa’s big-name celebrities joined the drive to do good and transform South Africa and the rest of the world into a better place for all.

To celebrate Madiba’s incredible life and achievements, South Africa’s most famous faces will be giving back to those in need in numerous ways by supporting causes close to their hearts.

Some of the nation’s top DJs and fashionistas (such as radio DJ-of-note Lee-Roy Wright and cutting-edge fashion designer Gert Johan Coetze) and most sought-after stars (such as heavyweight hip-hop artists ProVerb and Tuks and R&B sensation Danny K) are but a few of the famous faces who will be joining the ranks of Mandela Day “changemakers” in an effort to raise awareness around Mandela Day.

“We are particularly pleased with the calibre of artists who have decided to join our campaign. We hope that all their followers will take their lead,” comments Sello Hatang, Spokesperson for the Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory.
