Mandela Garden of 95 Trees Asaba Nigeria

Fight Against Desert Encroachment (FADE) in conjunction with the Delta State Government, Nigeria is creating a Mandela Garden of 95 Trees to commemorate the 95th birthday of Madiba and inspire individuals to take action to help change the world for the better.

This project has been endorsed by the Africa Rising Foundation conveners of the Mandela Is...campaign.

FADE welcomed individuals far and wide to spare 67 minutes of their time to volunteer in the creation of the garden by laying walkways, planting and watering trees and clearing the surrounding of debris and waste on July 18.

Our intention was to offer people the monumental opportunity of being part of the creation of the Mandela Garden, join in celebrating a world-revered icon and also at the same time and most importantly impart the message Nelson Mandela lived for; a life of service to humanity by developing a culture of helping others. It was both a joyous and enriching experience as we had both the young and old, students and government officials donate their time at the Garden.

The Garden is located inside the grounds of the Asaba International Airport, Delta State Nigeria and will be commissioned by the last week in August 2013 by the Mandela family led by Ndaba Mandela.

This event has been marked as public. Please contact the event organizer should you wish to participate.
