Knit-A-Square supports Mandela Day

Knit-A-Square (KAS) shares a message of hope and provides comfort to orphaned and vulnerable children in South Africa by distributing hand made blankets and clothing.

The project involves people from more than 60 countries around the world.

Contributors are asked to knit or crochet 20cm squares and mail them to KAS in South Africa to be made into beautiful, warm blankets which are then distributed all over South Africa.

In support of Mandela Day, our many members have been encouraged to spend 67 minutes of their time making squares for the children of South Africa.

Since KAS started in 2009, we have handed out more than 20 000 blankets and many more hand knitted items.

In 2013 we will be distributing in Alexandra and Soweto. Each child is wrapped in a warm blanket and told just how special they are to our country and indeed the world!

This event has been marked as public. Please contact the event organizer should you wish to participate.
